Mental Health Conditions Why Does Insurance Handle Mental Health Different From Other Health Conditions?

Why Does Insurance Handle Mental Health Different From Other Health Conditions? - mental health conditions

For years, the majority of the insurance coverage of mental health care is treated differently than other types of health care.
Co-payments are usually 80/20 for a person who has a disease like diabetes.
The participation fee for a person who is under clinical depression is usually 50/50.
I think the 1994 American with Disabilities Act prohibits this.
Of course, and it seems that this practice is widespread in the insurance industry.
Since everyone is a medical condition with a mortality risk, such as () can you do?

It's actually changed at the federal level.

However, how most people in the United States, their insurance through their employer, when he wrote the policy themselves, and pays all medical costs from his own checkbook, how come the rules. But even they must follow federal guidelines.

So you not only have restrictions on mental health, but also Chiropractic / Physical Therapy. Even care!

How can we know? I work in the field of health insurance.

In fact, I am in my psych portion of the nursing school now. Mental health is not nortorious the same range as medical problems. Why? No one can explain, probably because a significant proportion of the population or is diagnosed with a mental illness and why insurance companies will pay for all these people?

Because in the insurance world, there is nothing better than a terminal depression, regardless of the rate of suicide.
